The stated purpose of MAP is to address the structural injustices in philosophy and remove barriers that impede participation in academic philosophy for members of marginalized groups. We are devoted to uncovering and understanding the demographic dynamics within philosophy and possible explanations. In addition, we also hope to discuss topics relating to diversity and identity that sometimes are left out of the traditional curriculum. We will create a safe place to discuss the various experiences and challenges relating to being an underrepresented minority in philosophy and serve as a conduit to inform our university and department about these obstacles. In doing so, we hope to establish camaraderie and inclusion amongst our students and faculty.
